Thanksgiving in New Jersey
Über Thanksgiving bin ich zum dritten Mal nach New Jersey gefahren, um wieder einige Tage mit meinen Verwandten zu verbringen. Da dies mein erstes Thangsgiving war, war ich recht überrascht über das oppulente Mahl, das hierzu aufgetischt wurde (außerdem war es das erste Mal, daß ich vor dem Essen beten mußte). Am Tag danach, am 26.11.2004, habe ich dann auch den sogenannten "Black Friday" am eigenen Leib miterleben dürfen. Der Black Friday ist der letzte arbeitsfreie Tag vor Weihnachten, der bevorzugt für Weihnachtseinkäufe genutzt wird.
I made good use of the Thanksgiving weekend and spent some further days with my relatives in NJ. Since this was my first Thanksgiving ever, I was really surprised, not so say amazed, about the tons of delicious food. It was also the very first time, that I had to pray before having dinner. On the day after, on November 26th, 2004, I had the chance to experience the "Black Friday". This is the friday after Thanksgiving, the last public holiday before Christmas. Many people use this opportunity to do some Christmas shopping so the stores are crowded with hundreds of shopers.
